31 staff of same company test positive for coronavirus in Ibadan, Gov Makinde shuts down organisation

Governor Seyi Makinde has alerted the people of Oyo State on the need to be watchful and check their health status after 31 members staff in same organisation tested positive for coronavirus in Ibadan, the state capital.

Makinde, who disclosed this via his Twitter handle on Saturday, said the organisation located in the South West area in Ibadan, has been shut down and would be decontaminated.

He said in his tweets:

“The COVID-19 confirmation tests for thirty-one suspected cases came back POSITIVE. Thirty of these cases are members of staff of the same organisation based in Ibadan South West Local Government Area. The organisation has been shut down and will be decontaminated.

“We urge members of the public to remain calm as the situation is under control. Intensified contact tracing has already commenced. We will give an update on any additional measures that may need to be taken.

“The remaining one case is from Egbeda Local Government Area. So, the total number of confirmed cases in Oyo State as at 8:00 p.m. today, is 107.”

The governor also admonished some categories of people in the state, especially those who developed COVID-19 symptoms, to register with emergency operations centres “for the ongoing drive-through/walk-through testing at Adamasingba Stadium.”

He said: “People who believe they could have come in contact with a COVID-19 case in Oyo State; or people with COVID-19 symptoms: cough, fever, tiredness, body ache and shortness of breath; and alerted on the need to report to authorities “if you find travellers from other states arriving in your community.
