BREAKING NEWS: Nigeria’s IG of Police dissolves SARS

The Nigeria Police authorities have announced the dissolution of the Special Anti-Robbery Squad (SARS).

The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Mohammed Adamu, who made the announcement on Sunday, said its formation has been dissolved across the 36 states of Nigeria, including Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT).

According to the IGP, officers and men currently serving in the unit are to be redeployed with immediate effect, adding that, new policing arrangements to address the offences of armed robbery and other violent crimes will be presented in due course.
