The Lagos state government has imposed a 24-hour curfew in the state amid the raging #EndSARS protests.

Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu, making the declaration on Tuesday, said, the curfew takes effect from 4:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.

The hoodlums had exploited the situation unleashing terror on protesters and security formations, as there had been cases of violence in the state while the #EndSARS protests against police brutality persisted.

In the pockets of violence that followed the protests, on Monday, operatives of the Rapid Response Squad (RRS) of the state police command were attacked by hoodlums, and on Tuesday, a police station at Orile-Iganmu was set ablaze.

Sanwo-Olu describing the development as “monstrous,” said in his statement: “Dear Lagosians, I have watched with shock how what began as a peaceful #EndSARS protest has degenerated into a monster that is threatening the well-being of our society. Lives and limbs have been lost as criminals and miscreants are now hiding under the umbrella of these protests to unleash mayhem on our State.
