FACT: Obaseki dumps APC after meeting Gambari, not Buhari in Aso Rock

Edo State Governor Godwin Obaseki has finally announced his exit from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC).

Obaseki, who had been disqualified from contesting the party’s governorship primary election slated for June 22, announced his his on Tuesday, in Abuja.

He broke the news to State House correspondents after meeting with Professor Ibrahim Gambari, the Chief of Staff (CoS) to President Muhammadu Buhari, in Aso Rock, Abuja on Tuesday.

Against the widespread information that Obaseki met with Buhari, the embattled governor did not have an audience with the President, rather, he met with his CoS, Gambari.

Obaseki had been enmeshed in a running battle with his political godfather and APC Chairman, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, and it got worse after he was screen out of the APC governorship primary election days back.

However, the embattled governor had vowed to pursue his second term political in another platform, yet to be announced, but it has been speculated that he would team up with the opposition People’s Democratic Party (APC).

Obaseki, who has confirmed his meeting with Gambari, did not disclose under which party he is fulfilling his political ambition.

He had on Monday said he would only disclose his next line of action after meeting the President.
