Jubilant Nigerians have reacted to the first official viral photo of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, released on his social media handles where he was seen standing on his feet with his wife, Dolapo, alongside the Duchess Hospital medical team.

As the photo was published on his official social media handles on Sunday, July 24, 2022, the Vice President appreciated the Nigerian people for their show of love, and their best wishes and get-well-soon messages, while he also commended the medical team for “providing such an excellent care.”

He wrote: “My deep gratitude to everyone for your get-well wishes and prayers following my surgery.

“And special appreciation to the amazing team of surgeons, doctors, nurses, physiotherapists, and the management of the Duchess International Hospital Lagos, for providing such excellent care”

“God bless you all.”

VP Osinbajo on Saturday, July 16, went under the knife to repair his thigh bone at Duchess International Hospital, Ikeja, Lagos State.

After the successful surgery, the Medical Director of the hospital, Dr Adedoyin Dosunmu-Ogunbi, who gave an update on the VP’s health said Osinbajo was making steady progress and now walking.

“He is walking already, taking a few steps. You can imagine after a major surgery in his right femur bone; that is very encouraging as he continues to recover,” Dosunmu-Ogunbi said

Reacting to Osinbajo’s ‘thank you’ message, many Nigerians took to Twitter to express a sigh of relief at the VP’s quick recovery rate, as they further urged him to be strong, with many saying they were eager to see him return to work.

A responder, Adewumi Collins, who described Osinbajo as “stronger” welcoming him back, wrote: He is up standing again. He’s back stronger and healthier.
