Nigeria: Buhari, Osinbajo receive COVID-19 vaccine at Presidential Villa

President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, received the Covid-19 vaccine on Saturday, and both displayed their certificate of administration, at a brief ceremony witnessed by top government officials at the New Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja

Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari and Vice President Yemi Osinbajo have been vaccinated against COVID-19, in State House, Aso Villla, Abuja.

President Buhari was vaccinated by his personal physician on Saturday, at about 11.51 a.m., same for Vice Osinbajo who took an immediate turn, at a brief ceremony witnessed by top government officials at the New Banquet Hall of the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

Among Nigeria’s strategic leaders, President Buhari and Vice President Osinbajo, were among the first to take the vaccine after some frontline health workers at the treatment centre of the National Hospital, Abuja, were vaccinated on Friday.

President Buhari, after taking the vaccine said: “I urge all state governments, traditional and religious leaders, to take the lead in the mobilization effort within their environment and spheres of influence. The vaccine offers hope for a safe country, free of Coronavirus.”

Also, Vice President Osinbajo, said: “We are extremely grateful for the frontline workers, physicians, researchers, and scientists who worked tirelessly to ensure that this came to life. Get vaccinated, wear a mask and stay safe.”

Recalled that, the National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control (NAFDAC) had early on Friday cleared the 3.924 million doses of AstraZeneca vaccine which arrived the country on Tuesday.
