Nigeria: Buhari’s in-law, Isa Funtua, ‘cabal leader,’ is dead

Isa Funtua, an in-law to Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari, is dead.

As gathered, he died Monday night, after a brief illness, and would be buried on Tuesday, according to Muslim rites.

Funtua, was a member of Buhari’s kitchen cabinet, said to be one of the leaders of the popular Aso Rock “Cabal” believed to be spearheaded by him and the late Chief of Staff to the President, Abba Kyari.

His son, Ismaila Isa Funtua, at a time got married to Buhari’s daughter, Sefinatu.

He occupied no formal office under the present Buhari administration, but until his death, was one the most powerful men in President Buhari’s circle.
