Nigeria’s Chief of Army Staff, Gen Attahiru, top officers die in plane crash

The recently appointed Nigeria’s Army chief, Lt. Gen. Ibrahim Attahiru, and other top military personnel have been reported dead in an air crash.

As gathered, the aircraft conveying the Chief of Army Staff, Attairu, and other top military officers crashed at the Kaduna international airport at about 6:00 p.m. under heavy rain.

Reacting in a terse statement, the Nigeria Air Force spokesperson, Air Commodore Edward Gabkwet confirmed the crash of an aircraft, but didn’t disclose the identity of the victims.

He said, “An air crash involving a @NigAirForce aircraft occurred this evening near the Kaduna International Airport. The immediate cause of the crash is still being ascertained. More details to follow soon.”
