Pastor Adeboye’s meeting with President Buhari came amid religious leaders’s growing protest against a section of the Companies and Allied Matters Act (CAMA) 2020 recently signed by the President.

This had generated widespread criticisms from Nigeria’s religious bodies who faulted government on its plans to appoint trustees for their organisations which are not funded by it.

President Buhari, had, on August 7, 2020 signed the bill into law, giving provision for religious bodies and charity organisations to be regulated by the registrar of the Corporate Affairs Commission (CAC) and a granted a supervising minister the power to remove the board of trustees of churches without recourse to the court.
