A Nigerian media guru and politician, Dr Raymond Dokpesi, and seven members of his family have tested positive for coronavirus.

Dokpesi, the founder of DAAR Communications, owner of African Independent Television (AIT), was, on Friday, confirmed positive with his daughter-in-law and six other members of the family.

Eight of the family members result came days after Dokpesi’s son went to the University of Abuja Teaching Hospital, Gwagwalada, Abuja, for treatment after contracting the disease.

AIT said in a report, it was after the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) conducted tests on the Dokpesi family, the results showed eight of them had contracted COVID-19.

The report further indicated that the affected family members have reportedly been evacuated to the isolation centre  where his son is already receiving treatment.

Earlier before he agreed to go for the, test, Dokpesi was quoted as saying, he was feeling well but later got into the ambulance which conveyed him to the hospital.

“I am of quite ok. I feel very well,” he was quoted to have said.

Consequently, report said the headquarters of DAAR Communications at Kpaduma hills in Asokoro, Abuja, has been decontaminated.

Also, it was said to curb further spread in Dokpesi family, contact tracing had immediately commenced with checks on other family members including his father, and members of his household.

Likewise, tests were said to have been extended to senior management and members of staff who had been in close contact with the company’s index case,
