The Chief Judge of Kogi State, Nasir Ajanah, battling with coronavirus infection has died at the COVID-19 isolation centre in Gwagwalada, Abuja.<\/p>\n

Conforming this on Sunday, Governor Yahya Bello, in his condolence message, described Ajanah as a legal icon who stood for the cause of justice and defended the Rule of Law while doing his best to smoothen collaboration between the Executive and Judicial arms of Governments as the State\u2019s Chief Judge.<\/p>\n

The Chief Judge’s death became the second high profile death in less than two weeks, following the death of an\u00a0aide to Givernor Yahaya Bello, who also died in an Abuja hospital.<\/p>\n

Aged 64, Ajanah, 1956 to the family of MJ Fari Ajanah in Okene local government area, was moved from Lokoja into the isolation centre some days ago where he died.<\/p>\n

Ajanah, who studied law at the Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, and was called to the Nigerian bar as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court, later set up his private firm, Nasiru Ajanah & Co in Okene where he practised law between 1985 and 1989.<\/p>\n

He also served as chairman, Election Petitions Tribunal in Akwa Ibom State (2007) and chairman, Election Tribunal Petitions in Rivers State (2008).<\/p>\n

He will be buried in Abuja on Sunday, according to Islamic rites.<\/p>\n

\u2022 Governor Yahaya Bello mourns<\/p>\n

The Kogi State Governor, Yahaya Bello, has expressed grief over the death of the late Chief Judge of Kogi State, Ajanah, whom it said occurred after a brief illess.<\/p>\n

The Governor made this known on Sunday in a condolence message signed by his Chief Press Secretary, Onogwu Muhammed.<\/p>\n

Governor Bello described the late Chief Justice as a legal icon who stood for the cause of justice and defended the Rule of Law while doing his best to smoothen collaboration between the Executive and Judicial arms of Governments as the State\u2019s Chief Judge.<\/p>\n

He noted that the late Chief Justice who has also served at the National level in several capacities, described him as a fearless judge who was renowned for demanding discipline in his court and delivering thorough and sound judgments.<\/p>\n

The Governor noted that Kogi State has lost a legal luminary who bestrode the heights of his chosen profession like a colossus and cast his shadow far beyond the confines of the state.<\/p>\n

Governor Bello noted that his administration would greatly miss Justice Ajanah\u2019s wise counsel while aggirming that he served the state and even the entire Nation to the best of his abilities. History, he noted, would be kind to the memory of the late jurist.<\/p>\n

The Governor sends his condolences to the Family of the late Chief Judge, his Friends, the Kogi State Judiciary, the legal profession and to Nigeria as a whole.<\/p>\n

The state government earlier announced the passing of late Justice Nasiru Ajana through the ministry of information and communication.<\/p>\n

The late Justice Nasiru Ajanah was born in the year 1956 in Okene Local Government Area to the family of MJ Fari Ajanah.<\/p>\n

He studied law at the Ahmadu Bello University in Zaria and was called to Nigerain bar as a barrister and solicitor of the Supreme Court in .<\/p>\n

Governor Yahaya Bello prayed for the repose of the soul of late Justice Ajanah. He asked that the Almighty God will comfort those he left behind and grant them the fortitude to bear such a great loss.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"
