Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Friday, paid a thank you visit Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, in his office at the State House, in Abuja.

Obaseki said his visit to Aso Rock, was “in continuation of our ‘thank you’ tour, as we continue to show appreciation to various stakeholders that contributed to the success of the Edo Governorship election last Saturday.”

The Edo State governor was accompanied by his wife, Betsy, and the state’s Deputy Governor, Mr Philip Shaibu.

President Muhammadu Buhari, had, earlier, on Friday received Obaseki, who paid him a thank you visit for ensuring fair and credible election during the September 19, 2020 governorship election in Edo State.

The governor, who reiterated his commitment to good governance said, the concept of the godfather is inimical to democratic values, hence, he said he should be dealt with he later becomes a godfather in Edo politics.

The godfather acts outside of the constitution and he now controls people who are constitutional players.

“So, if we allow that to continue, it will be worst than the military rule. So, God forbid, if I become a godfather, I should be dealt with accordingly because it will be dangerous to the concept of democracy,” he said.

Obaseki, who also dismissed the assertion that he might defect back to his former political party, the All Progressives Congress(APC), pledged to consolidate on the achievements of the first term of office in sectors like agriculture, health, education and economy.

Edo State governor, Godwin Obaseki, on Friday, paid a thank you visit Nigeria’s Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, in his office at the State House, in Abuja.
