The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, has joined the campaign and protest against police brutality in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
The protest popularised with the hashtag #EndSARS particularly on the micro-blogging website, Twitter, had been launched in condemnation of brutality and extrajudicial killings Nigerian, especially youths have suffered in he hands of the Special Anti-Robbery (SARS) of the Nigeria Police.<\/p>\n
Jack, has urged concerned ones to make donations via Bitcoin in support of the protest in a tweet posted on Wednesday.<\/p>\n
ALSO READ:\u00a0Nigeria: Reps summon IGP over #EndSARS protest<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Before Jack’s solidarity for the Nigerian protesters, other notable individuals and celebrities within and outside Nigeria have also pull their weight behind the civil action against police brutality in Nigeria.<\/p>\n However, the protests mobilised mostly across Southern states of Nigeria, which has been applauded by different youthful interests groups that supported it, had forced the police authorities to meet protesters’ demands.<\/p>\n The Inspector-General of Police, Mohammed Adamu, had since dissolved the infamous SARS, and two days after its ban, announced a new unit named Special Weapons and Tactics Team (SWAT).<\/p>\n However, this development still did not stop the protest, rather, it was condemned by the protesters who said SWAT was a replica of SARS.<\/p>\n The agitators said the protests will continue until all demands are met, chiding government for its decision to immediately replace SARS with SWAT.<\/p>\n As a result, it sparked a new protest with demonstrators calling for the disbanding of the newly constituted SWAT team, while also calling for the overall reform in the Nigeria Police.<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":" The Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Twitter, Jack Dorsey, has joined the campaign and protest against police brutality in Nigeria.
