A human rights crusader, Dr Joe Okei-Odumakin, widow of Yinka Odumakin, the national publicity secretary of Afenifere, said her husband recovered from COVID-19 a week ago before his death.<\/p>\n
The death of Odumakin, also a human rights activist, was announced Saturday morning.<\/p>\n
As confirmed by his mournful widow, in a statement she personally signed entitled: “A Part Of Me Is Gone!” said her husband died of COVID-19 complications at the Lagos State University Teaching Hospital (LASUTH).<\/p>\n
Disclosing the nature of his death in a statement on Saturday, the widow said her husband died on Saturday, at the intensive care unit of LASUTH where he was being treated for respiratory issues due to COVID-19 complications.<\/p>\n

Activist Yinka Odumakin, dies, Nigerians mourn<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n Okei-Odumakin, who expressed her appreciation over “the sympathy received by the family since the news broke out,” said that the burial arrangement will be announced soon.<\/p>\n Okei-Odumakin’s statement read:<\/p>\n A PART OF ME IS GONE!<\/em><\/p>\n “With gratitude to the Supreme Being for a life well spent, Iannounce the passing on of my beloved husband, Comrade Yinka Odumakin to the great beyond after a brief illness.<\/em><\/p>\n “The sad event happened this morning (Saturday, 3\/4\/2021) at the intensive care unit of LASUTH where he was being managed for respiratory issues due to complications from COVID-19 which he had recovered from about a week ago.<\/em><\/p>\n “I appreciate the outpouring of grief and sympathy from home and abroad as I mourn my irreplaceable soulmate.
