President Muhammadu Buhari has been commented by the Nigerian youths for constituting the Health Sector Reform Committee to be headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, saying, “we have confidence in the capacity of the Vice President to deliver on this mandate.”<\/p>\n
The youths under the aegis of the Nigerian Youth Union (NYU), said they were glad to hear about President Buhari\u2019s approval of their demands through the setting up of the Osibanjo-led committee on Health Sector Reform.<\/p>\n
Speaking through its National President, Chinonso Obasi, in a statement on Tuesday in Abuja, NYU said that access to affordable and quality health care was every citizen\u2019s right, hence, its advocacy is centered on a call for health sector reform.<\/p>\n
President Buhari, had, on Monday approved the setting up of a committee for development and implementation of a Health Sector Reform programme for Nigeria.<\/p>\n
The committee, to be chaired by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, will work in collaboration with state governments and the FCT administration.<\/p>\n
The presidency had said that the approval of the committee was sequel to a Health Sector Diagnostic Review Report, developed by a consultant, Vesta Healthcare Partners and the Federal Ministry of Health.<\/p>\n
Obasi recalled that the NYU alongside other youth and students\u2019 associations held an advocacy protest demanding for a health sector reform in Nigeria.<\/p>\n
He said that and the Buhari\u2019s approval was coming months after the demands.<\/p>\n
\u201cThe advocacy protests which took place in the Nigeria Ministry of Health on Feb. 13 had an assuring commitment from the Minister of Health.<\/p>\n
