The family noted that details of his burial arrangements would be announced later, urging the public to remember them in prayers as they celebrate his impactful life and ministry.

Born on January 7, 1945, in Asaga, Ohafia, Abia State, Dr. Ukpai was a pioneering voice in Nigeria’s Pentecostal revival movement. For over six decades, his ministry was marked by large-scale crusades, healing services, and humanitarian missions that transformed countless lives.

He founded the Uma Ukpai Evangelistic Association (UUEA), headquartered in Uyo, Akwa Ibom State, and played a significant role in the formation of the Pentecostal Fellowship of Nigeria (PFN). His compassion extended beyond the pulpit through projects like the Uma Ukpai Eye Centre and King of Kings Hospital.

Tributes have continued to pour in from church leaders and admirers across the nation. Gospel singer Frank Edwards shared, “At age eight, I was healed of asthma and pneumonia at one of his crusades. He was a vessel of divine healing and compassion.”

Despite enduring personal tragedy — including the loss of two of his children in a single accident — Dr. Ukpai remained unwavering in faith, often using his pain as testimony to strengthen others.

He is survived by his wife, Pastor Philomena Ukpai, eight biological children, and one adopted child.

The family’s statement concluded with a message of hope:

“Though he has left this earthly realm, his voice of faith, healing, and revival will continue to echo in generations to come.”
