Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, has told the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) to collaborate with technological-innovative institutions to counter contemporary and emerging security challenges.
He said employing the technological advantage in partnership with individuals and stakeholders across institutions and industries will help in achieving the set objectives in securing the country.
Vice President Osinbajo, representing President Muhammadu Buhari, gave the charge to the Nigerian Air Force at the ceremonial parade and aerial display marking the 59th Anniversary Celebration of Nigerian Air Force Day 2023 in Enugu, on Saturday, May 6, 2023.
Prof Osinbajo admonished NAF to increase its local capacity building through practical and purposeful collaboration beyond the military and partnership, which he said would help in countering contemporary and emerging security challenges.
Prof Osinbajo giving the government’s account of fighting terror said that within the last four years to date, the Buhari-led administration has committed substantial national resources to enhance the overall capabilities of the Armed Forces, especially the Nigerian Air Force.
He said that NAF had proved its mettle since the years of its establishment both local and international, adding that he was impressed by the parade and aerial displays put up by the Nigerian Air Force.

At the ceremony, the Vice President also inducted some new platforms of the Nigerian Air Force, including DA-62, Special Mission Aircraft and Wing Loong II, Unmanned Aerial Vehicle.
In attendance at the event was Enugu State Governor, Chief Ifeanyi Ugwuanyi, who had earlier welcomed the Vice President to the state.
Also, the Chief of Defence Staff, General Lucky Irabor; the Chief of Army Staff, Lt. Gen. Faruk Yahaya; the Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Oladayo Amao and the representative of Chief of Navy Staff, and other dignitaries attended the programme.
