God created every human to fulfil a particular purpose, which must be accomplished in a lifetime, thus, there are principles which one has to live life with if living would be meaningful, a teacher of the gospel, Pastor Tunde Jaiyebo, has said.
The Senior Pastor of Charis Family International Church, ministering on Saturday, August 13, 2022, at the ministry’s “Making Your Life Count” Conference, with the theme: “Upward Trajectory,” Pastor Jaiyebo said every child of God must have a divine force propelling him or her to achieving a life goal.
He premised his teaching on the Scriptures focusing on the Book of Proverbs 4:18, which states: “But the path of the just is as the shining light, that shineth more and more unto the perfect day.”
Consequently, as he spoke to a gathering of people who attended the programme at the headquarters’ church auditorium at Mokola, along Cultural Centre road, in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, Pastor Jaiyebo defined trajectory as a force behind any object that pushes it up.
Now, linking it with the life purpose divinely given by God, he said, the mandate is for “upward trajectory,” the movement which he called the “realisation and manifestation of God,” that is, “an authorisation that permits you to operate in a way that will take you higher.”
But for this to be a reality, he listed 10 principles which must be imbibed and followed by every believer so they realise their God-given purpose.
However, to have a focused pursuit, Pastor Jaiyebo said individuals but be ready to ask themselves critical questions which they must be ready to answer sincerely.
Such questions, he would be reviewed on one’s present status, asking: “If your life continues the way it is going,” he said, “What will happen in the end? In your relationships, marriage, career, academics, and others.
Another question: Is your life on the right track? Explaining this, he said, “When you are on the wrong track, you don’t need speed, but you need it when on the wrong track.

Other questions he said include: “Is your life being deliberately lived on purpose, by purpose and for purpose? What are you living for? At the speed you are going, when will you arrive at your destination? When will you begin to live your dream?
He, then, gave the 10 principles as explained below:
10 Basic Principles To Apply From The Scriptures To Make Your Life Count
1. Discover purpose
A journey with a destination becomes interesting. The purpose gives you a reason for living. When a man says he wants to die, it means he has no purpose. Once you discover purpose, it helps you go through the process. — Hebrews 12:2.
Like you cannot be undergoing an adult education class and be failing. Most times, you are the one sponsoring yourself.
2. Have goals
Life only answers to structures and systems. Many people don’t have structures and systems. You must have both the structures and systems you are operating on. Goals are landmarks on the way to success. Every river flows to the ocean, but a river must have a course, if not, it will dry.
So, break your purpose into goals.
3. Have zero tolerance for mediocrity
Proverbs 4:18 says “The path of the righteous shines brighter and brighter… So, don’t give excuses about anything, just get the job done. Don’t tolerate an average. You are not an average human being, you are excellent. Don’t appropriate an average to yourself. Also, don’t tolerate enough. Proverbs 4:18 talks about more and more.
4. Live your life with passion and drive
Philippians 3:14-15 says ‘I’m off and running, and I’m not turning back. So let’s keep focused on that goal, those of us who want everything God has for us. If any of you have something else in mind, something less than total commitment, God will clear your blurred vision – you’ll see it yet!”
5. Commit to excellence
Get better per time and improve next time. Look at life from the angle of a visitor. Check regularly the progress you make per day. Don’t resist instructions from the voices of caution around you. Your spouse, pastor, and others with authority over you are your voices of caution.
6. Ever-increasing development
That is, learn something new everyday about your chosen field. Also, be a conscious learner in the following areas: reading books; studying, this is more than reading, you pay keen attention, and you learn by observing people. Everybody you see is a book of wisdom or foolishness.
Likewise, be a conscious learner through apprenticeship. The first step is to learn humility. If you are not humble, you can’t be a good apprentice. Then, you must be very observant. You must be humble to learn from people. Be a conscious student.
7. Be resilient
Learn to bounce back from adversity on time. Proverbs 24:16; Psalm 37:23-24. Find out why you fall so you don’t fall the same way the other time. Where you have fallen is not the end of life.
8. Be grateful and joyful
Things could have been worse. Whatever you have lost is not the loss of your life, be grateful. Learn to be grateful in all things. Amid the crisis, be grateful. Romans 8:28. Following through a process may not be palatable, but nothing happens without a process. It is only miracles that happen without a process.
9. Right company
Proverbs 13:20. “He that walks with wise men shall be wise, but a companion of fools shall be destroyed.”
You must consciously associate with: people who challenge you to do more and get better; people who don’t tolerate your excuses. Have people that will go the extra mile for you. Have people who are a voice of caution in your life. Also, don’t have many people you can’t say no to. Be careful when the voice of caution in your life is silent. At this time, he wants to learn by experience since you won’t stop arguing against every wise counsel you are given. Also, associate with people who see the big picture of your life and push you there.
10. Have a vibrant relationship with the word of God
Read your Bible Hosea 4:6 says My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge…” Also, hear the word of God. Romans 10:17, faith comes by hearing the word of God. You also need to keep confessing the word of God. Meditate on the word of God. Joshua 1:8. The word of God has to be in your meditation.
