Lagos State witnesses another surge in the number of coronavirus cases in Nigeria recording 179 out of the 288 infections announced for Friday.
The figures displayed by the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC), via its Twitter handle, late Friday evening, showed that the latest Lagos record is more than the addition of what was recorded for the preceding two days.
On the 14th of May, 4 cases reported from Plateau & 1 case from Akwa Ibom, were repeat cases

For Wednesday and Thursday, the figures for Lagos had been 51 and 58 respectively, before witnessing another spike on Friday.

In the total breakdown for Friday, Nigeria COVID-19 cases had risen to 5,445, with 1,320 already discharged, leaving 171 deaths.
Kaduna State with 20 cases, came a distant second to Lagos, with Katsina, Jigawa, Borno and Ogun with 15, 15, 13 and 11 new cases respectively.
Other states which include Kano had eight new cases, while the Abuja, the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) recorded seven, while Niger and Ekiti dtates had four new cases each.
Oyo, Delta and Bauchi states recorded three new cases each, while Edo and Kwara states had two new cases and one new case espectively.
