Pastor Tunde Jaiyebo, a devoted gospel teacher, has affirmed that divine empowerment through grace forms the foundation for divine provisions, enabling the fulfilment of purpose and an extraordinary life.
The Senior Pastor of Charis Family International Church made this assertion on Thursday morning during the opening session of Charis Day Celebration 2024, held at the church’s headquarters auditorium along Cultural Centre Road, Mokola, Ibadan.
While declaring the four-day programme, themed “Empowered with Grace,” open, Pastor Jaiyebo drew from scriptural references, including 1 Corinthians 15:9-10, John 1:16, and Hebrews 13:9, to expound on the transformative power of empowerment.
In his compelling message, he posed a reflective question to the congregation: “Imagine you have all the money, personnel, resources, wisdom, power, and opportunities you need in excess. Would you still be doing what you are doing now? And if so, would you do it on the same scale?”
According to him, many people lack the empowerment to fulfil their God-given purpose. “The future is prepared. God speaks to us based on what He has already prepared for us,” he explained.
Quoting Daniel 11:32b, he added, “Those who know their God shall be strong and do exploits. The phrase ‘do know’ implies active engagement, and ‘exploit’ refers to outstanding achievements, yet many people live ordinary lives.”
Pastor Jaiyebo challenged attendees to align their current efforts with God’s purposes for their lives, identifying a lack of empowerment as the primary reason many fail to realise their potential.
“Some people are only surviving, not thriving. For how long will you wait to start what you need to do? Something has to change, especially as we prepare to enter a new year,” he said.
Explaining God’s plans for humanity as immensely glorious, drawn from 1 Corinthians 2:9, he noted that divine empowerment is essential to achieving these plans.
“If you have the empowerment, you will not be doing what you are doing now or you do it on a larger scale. Something has to break because there is so much more to our lives than we are experiencing now. Our predestined future is extremely glorious that our mind can’t grasp it. It is the intolerance of the present that creates a preferred future,” he asserted.
“The problem is the problem of empowerment. People can’t do what they need to do, or they do it on a smaller scale because of inadequate empowerment. It is the intolerance of the present that creates a preferred future,” he added.

Pastor Jaiyebo highlighted three forms of empowerment: demonic, human, and divine. He warned against relying on demonic forces, which, although effective, lead to destruction. While natural human empowerment is necessary, it is limited and can create a false sense of independence from God.
Referring to Jeremiah 17:6, he stated, “When you have human empowerment and you get results, you may think there is no need for God.”
Describing divine empowerment as the ultimate source of strength, he explained that it combines God’s presence, power, and provision.
“Empowered by grace means you have all that God is and all that God has. It includes His presence wherever you go, His power to achieve the impossible, and His provision to meet all your needs,” he said, referencing Hebrews 13:5-6, which assures believers of God’s unwavering presence and support.
Pastor Jaiyebo also urged the congregation to align their expectations with God’s capacity.
“The question is what do you want? In your marriage, business, ministry, and others, is it in your own capacity or God’s capacity?” he asked.
Quoting Psalm 2:8 (Message), he said, “Many times, what we want is too small for God. God wants you to come to Him based on His capacity. You pray to God because you can’t get it yourself. You must come to God based on His own capacity, not yours.”
He stressed the importance of dwelling on God’s Word to understand His promises and provisions.
“Imagine what you have achieved this year in view of your capacity. We ask for bread when we can have the bakery. We ask for help when we should be the helper.”
“If you ask for the end of the world, it is available in God. We have allowed circumstances to reduce our expectations.”
“That is why it is important to dwell on the work of God to know what we want in life. The problem being solved now is inadequate empowerment. We need mental, physical, psychological, and spiritual empowerment. The result you have now is a reflection of your empowerment. God wants us to step up to the real empowerment He has in stock for us.”
In his closing remarks, Pastor Jaiyebo assured believers that divine empowerment is the key to fulfilling their purpose.
“Grace gives you access to all that God is and all that He has. It allows you to live in the consciousness of His presence and align with His limitless capacity. This is how we achieve the extraordinary and live the lives God has predestined for us.
“If you have the empowerment, you will not be doing what you are doing now, or you will do it on a larger scale. Something has to break because our predestined future is extremely glorious,” he declared.
The programme continues with sessions designed to inspire believers to walk in grace and fulfil their God-given destinies.
