The global cases of COVID-19 topped 32 million on Thursday, according to the Center for Systems Science and Engineering at Johns Hopkins University.
Corroborating the figure on Thursday, Worldometers said, the number of deaths from the virus has reached 981,967, with recoveries topping 23.68 million.
The US remains the worst-hit country with over 6.96 million infections, while its death toll exceeds 200,000.

Next to the US is India, with the second-highest number of infections worldwide at over 5.73 million.
The coronavirus has spread to at least 210 countries and regions since it was first detected in the Chinese city of Wuhan late last year 2019.
