The Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) had earlier criticized Tinubu for his silence, stating that it was “worrisome” and “heightening public apprehension that the All Progressives Congress (APC) government is insensitive to the feelings of the citizens and the overall sorry state of affairs in the nation.”

In a statement, the PDP urged Tinubu to break his silence, address the nation immediately, and reassure citizens on pressing issues affecting them, such as the high price of petroleum products and food items.

The opposition party also demanded a comprehensive investigation into the reported killing of unarmed protesters by security operatives.

The nationwide protests, which began on Thursday and continued into Friday, have seen youths taking to the streets in Abuja, Lagos, Kaduna, Kano, Rivers, and other regions, demanding an end to hunger and poor governance.

Many Nigerians are struggling to afford basic necessities due to severe economic hardships.

President Tinubu’s address is expected to provide clarity on the government’s plans to tackle the nation’s economic challenges and reassure citizens amid the ongoing protests.

The nation eagerly awaits the President’s remarks, which could serve as a crucial step towards restoring stability and addressing the pressing concerns of the Nigerian people.
