Babafemi Ojudu, former Special Adviser on Political Matters to President Muhammadu Buhari, has expressed his belief that former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo would have been a more effective president for Nigeria than the current President, Bola Tinubu.

In a recent appearance on the podcast “State Affairs” anchored by Edmund Obilo, Ojudu described Osinbajo as a visionary leader capable of propelling Nigeria to greater heights.

Ojudu criticised Tinubu’s leadership philosophy, suggesting it is not suitable for addressing Nigeria’s present challenges.

He emphasised the necessity of collaborative governance, stating that a successful president must work alongside competent officials who share a unified vision.

“You can’t just be a president and have a useless Inspector General of Police, have a useless head of Customs or Immigration or Chief Justice of Nigeria; everybody must sign on to your ideals, ideas, and visions,” Ojudu remarked.

Reflecting on the 2022 All Progressives Congress (APC) primaries, Ojudu expressed regret over Osinbajo’s loss, viewing it as a missed opportunity for Nigeria to experience better leadership.

He noted that effective governance requires a president to collaborate with a team of officials who share a common vision.

Ojudu also mentioned that President Buhari did not support either Osinbajo or Tinubu during the primaries, suggesting that Tinubu outmanoeuvred Buhari to secure the party’s ticket.

Ojudu’s insights highlight his belief in Osinbajo’s potential as a leader, contrasting it with Tinubu’s current presidency, which he deems less suitable for Nigeria’s needs at this time.
