President Muhammadu Buhari, on Sunday, declared that Vice President Yemi Osinbajo is now in charge of governance as he flew to London, the United Kingdom for an earlier planned medical checkup.
This was disclosed to the State House Correspondents by the President, shortly before his trip to the United Kingdom, saying, Vice President Osinbajo would be assisted by the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF), Boss Mustapha, and the Chief of Staff.
President Buhari emphatically assured that his absence from the country would not affect the running of the government.

“Well, I cannot claim to be doing the work alone. The government is fully represented, the Vice President is there, constitutionally, when I am away he is in charge; and the Secretary to the government and the chief of staff. So, no problem,” President Buhari said.
The President had initially planned to leave Kenya directly for London after attending a UNEP programme in Kenya, last week, but later returned to the country.
The President is expected to spend two weeks abroad as earlier stated by the presidential spokesperson, Femi Adesina.
