Osinbajo visits Yar’Adua family in Katsina to pay condolences

Former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo arrived in Katsina State on Thursday to pay his respects and offer condolences to the Yar’Adua family following the passing of Hajia Dada Yar’Adua, the matriarch of the Yar’Adua family.

This visit emphasises Osinbajo’s close relationship with the Yar’Adua family and his deep respect for the legacy of the late President Umaru Musa Yar’Adua and General Shehu Musa Yar’Adua.

Upon his arrival, Osinbajo was welcomed by Katsina State Governor Dikko Umaru Radda, who was accompanied by the grandson of the deceased, former Minister of State for Defense, Murtala Yar’Adua, and former Chief of Protocol to President Olusegun Obasanjo, Inuwa Baba.

The visit was marked by prayers for the repose of Hajia Dada’s soul, led by Senator Kabiru Gaya, who accompanied the former Vice President on the visit.

Apart from Gaya, Osinbajo was also accompanied by a notable other dignitaries, including Mrs. Maryam Uwais, former Presidential Adviser on Social Investment.

Laolu Akande, the former Vice President’s spokesperson, had earlier shared updates about the visit on social media.

Akande stated that Osinbajo had arrived in Katsina on a condolence visit to the Yar’Adua family, highlighting the significance of the visit and the family’s legacy.

Osinbajo’s presence at the Yar’Adua residence reflects his respect for the family and acknowledges the profound impact Hajia Dada had on the nation.

This visit follows his previous visit to Hajia Dada in January 2022, demonstrating his ongoing connection and respect for her and the family.

Hajia Dada Yar’Adua, who passed away at the age of 102, was a revered figure in Nigerian politics and society.

Her family has played pivotal roles in shaping Nigeria’s political landscape.

Hajia Yar’Adua’s death has elicited widespread condolences from across the country, including from political leaders, civil society groups, and ordinary citizens.

The visit spotlights Osinbajo’s solidarity with the family during their time of grief and reinforces his commitment to honoring those who have significantly contributed to Nigeria’s development.
