The founder of Living Faith Church Worldwide, also known as Winners’ Chapel, Bishop David Oyedepo, has said that politicians often come to him for prayers and advice, but he has never campaigned for any of them and won’t ever do so.
The revered cleric said this on Sunday, April 2, 2023, ministering at the headquarters of the church, The Faith Tabernacle, in Ota, Ogun State, amid the backlash that followed an unverified leaked audio conversation attributed to him and Labour Party (LP) Presidential candidate, Peter Obi.
“There is no party in this country that didn’t come to me for prayers and advice. If you still come again, I will still tell you, it doesn’t change,” Bishop Oyedepo said.
Though not directly reacting to the said controversial viral audio clip, the message is coming barely 24 hours after the backlash that trailed his alleged phone conversation with Obi, a night before the February 25, 2023, presidential election.
It was alleged in the viral audio clip that a voice similar to that of Obi had asked the cleric to speak to the South-West Christians with an extension to Kwara State to vote for him in the presidential poll, describing the election as a “religious war,” but many supporters of Obi and admirers of the revered cleric had described the audio as fake.

As he continued his ministration to his congregation during the Sunday, Bishop Oyedepo averred that he will not campaign for anyone “till I go to heaven.”
“Nobody had ever told me what to say in this world. No. I have never campaigned for anybody or spoken on anybody’s behalf and I will not do that till I go to heaven.
“There is no (political) party in this country that didn’t come to me for prayers and advice. I advised them, some, they didn’t take. Those who chose to take it, see results; those who said no, are going about it. If you still come again, I will still tell you, it doesn’t change,” Bishop Oyedepo said.
