Bauchi State Governor and Chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) Governors Forum, Bala Mohammed, has urged President Bola Tinubu to assemble a team of knowledgeable and competent individuals, similar to those he worked with during his tenure as Governor of Lagos State.
In an interview with Daily Trust, Mohammed emphasised the need for figures like former Vice President Yemi Osinbajo and former Minister Kayode Fayemi in Tinubu’s cabinet.
He pointed out that Tinubu’s success in Lagos was largely due to the strong team he had, which included Osinbajo and Fayemi, and questioned why these individuals are not currently involved in the Tinubu administration[2][3][6].
Mohammed expressed disappointment over Tinubu’s current approach, which he believes has not brought the desired development to Nigeria.
He criticised the president for not heeding advice on his administration’s policies, which are affecting Nigerians negatively.
Mohammed noted that he had high hopes that Tinubu would bring the same level of development he achieved in Lagos to the national level, but these hopes have been dashed.

The Bauchi governor argued that Tinubu’s current advisors seem more interested in offering blind praise rather than constructive input.
He advised Tinubu to bring back knowledgeable people and not just those who are ready to give “ranka dede” (blind praise).
Mohammed stressed that the government’s economic policies, particularly around fuel prices and the general welfare of citizens, are failing and need urgent reform.
Mohammed also highlighted the need for policy adjustments that prioritise the welfare of Nigerians.
He emphasised that collaboration with knowledgeable individuals, rather than mere loyalists, is essential to implement effective policies.
