Vice President Kashim Shettima will represent Nigeria at the 79th United Nations General Assembly (UNGA) in New York, as President Bola Tinubu opts out to focus on domestic issues following a recent trip abroad.
The decision comes in light of pressing national challenges, including the aftermath of severe flooding in Nigeria, the Presidency stated in a statement on Thursday.
During the assembly, which runs from September 24 to 28, 2024, Shettima is set to deliver Nigeria’s national statement and engage in key sideline events and bilateral meetings.
