Nigerian athletics has reached a historic milestone as Tobi Amusan is appointed as the country’s flagbearer for the opening ceremony of the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.

This marks the first time in 20 years that a track and field athlete has been given this prestigious role.

On Tuesday, Making of Champions announced on social media platform X, “Tobi Amusan has been named Nigeria’s flagbearer for the opening ceremony of #Paris2024 #Olympics.

She becomes the first athletics athlete in 20 years, since Mary Onyali at the Athens 2004 Games, to receive this honour.”

Amusan, renowned for her remarkable achievements in the 100m hurdles, will represent Nigeria during the parade of nations at the ceremony.
