• Says ‘You’ve spearheaded key economic reforms in this country
The Emir of Gombe, Alhaji Abubakar Shehu Abubakar, has lauded the commitment of the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, to national and economic development during his visit to the Emir’s palace on Tuesday.
Osinbajo was in Gombe to attend the 27th edition of National Micro Small and Medium Enterprise (MSME) Clinic.
The Emir, welcoming the Vice President said, “We in the North are closely following your steady achievements, first as a successful legal professor, a religious leader and now as the Vice President of Nigeria.
“We are studying your humility and grace; we appreciate you and we pray for more success in your journey.”
These virtues of Osinbajo, the Emir said demonstrated his role in the Buhari administration and the reason President Buhari reposed a a lot of confidence in him.
As a result, the Emir said, “I feel particularly honoured by your visit to us and to Gombe for the MSME clinic. This demonstrates your respect for the traditional institution and the strong bond of friendship between yourself and the good people of Gombe.”
He said, “I would like to commend the Federal Government for its compelling efforts towards the economic development of our people especially in the area of agriculture and small-scale businesses.”

The Emir also thanked the Federal Government for resuscitating Wawa-Zange Grazing reserve, which he described as the largest in the country.
He noted that “Gombe is an agrarian state and also a hub of trade and commerce in the Northeast,” while assuring Prof Osinbajo that, “I believe what you see today will avail you the opportunity to see firsthand, the impact and nature of our people and the numerous successes of our businesses.”

Below are the full remarks by the Emir of Gombe: “Your visit today affirms the commitment of the Federal Government under the leadership of President Muhammadu Buhari, and the support that you give our people.
“I would like to commend the Federal Government for its compelling efforts towards the economic development of our people especially in the area of agriculture and small-scale businesses. Gombe is an agrarian State and also a hub of trade and commerce in the Northeast.
“I believe what you see today will avail you the opportunity to see firsthand, the impact and nature of our people and the numerous successes of our businesses.
“We are on board with the National Livestock Transformation Plan which you chair.
“Your presence here today is in line with your role as the “economic driver” of the country. Through your role as the Chairman of the National Economic Council, you have spearheaded important reforms in the area of ease of doing business, enhancing ICT innovation, as well as economic policies to reduce the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“This demonstrates your own role in the Buhari administration and a lot of confidence that Mr. President reports on you.
“We in the North are closely following your steady achievements; first as a successful legal professor, a religious leader and now as the Vice President of Nigeria.

In his response, Osinbajo thanked the Emir for the reception accorded him and members of his entourage, while he expressed happiness with the level of infrastructural development in the state.
He also used the opportunity to speak on peace and unity of Nigeria, noting that, those preaching war and fanning embers of disunity among Nigerians would be put to shame.
“Nigeria is one and we believe in unity; therefore those causing problems should stop because they will not succeed,” Osinbajo said.
Earlier in his remark, Gov. Inuwa Yahaya, who received the vice president, said he was elated to have him come to inaugurate some executed projects in the state.
Yahaya reiterated the state government’s readiness to support the federal government in its desire to execute national projects in the state.
The Vice President in Gombe, also flagged off the distribution of CAC free Business Registration certificates as well as on a farmiliarisation visit to support Survival Fund and Gombe Industrial Clusters.
