The Nigeria’s Economic Sustainability Committee (ESC) headed by Vice President Yemi Osinbajo has met with members of Presidential Economic Advisory Council (PEAC) furtherance to fulfilling its goal of developing a clear economic sustainability plan for the country.

President Muhammadu Buhari had saddled Osinbajo’s committee with the responsibility of structuring the nation’s Economic Sustainability Plan, which include stimulating significant local production, save jobs and creating new ones.
Laolu Akande, the Senior Special Assistant, Media and Publicity to the Vice President, in a series of tweets on Thursday, said PEAC was invited with the aim of getting its inputs into the ESC’s forthcoming report to be submitted to the President.

He said Osinbajo anchored the meeting via videoconferencing from the Presidential Villa, in Abuja.
It will be recalled that the ESC, inaugurated by President Muhammadu Buhari on April 2, was tasked with the role of tackling the post COVID-19 challenges, and develop a clear economic sustainability plan until 2023.
Akande, in his tweets said: “As part of the work of the Economic Sustainability Committee chaired by VP Osinbajo, members of Economic Advisory Council were invited to a meeting today for their inputs into the Committee’s forthcoming report to the President. The goals of the report -the Sustainability Plan.”

He said, the plan “include to stimulate significant local production, save jobs, create new ones and also protect the most vulnerable and the working poor. It’s about turning the current challenges into great opportunities for Nigerians and Nigeria in line with Mr. President’s vision.”
“Besides members of the ESC and PEAC, several ministers were also part of the videoconference anchored from the Presidential Villa. ESC’s engagement with the PEAC creates synergy and effective coordination as Nigeria confronts what is clearly a serious economic situation,” Akande said.
