The publisher of Sahara Reporters, Omoyele Sowore, and four others were, on Monday, remanded at Kuje Correctional Centre in Nigeria’s capital city, Abuja.
The Magistrate court in Wuse Zone 2, Abuja, had ordered that five of them be remanded in prison during their appearance Monday morning, pending their formal bail application expected to be heard on Tuesday, January 5, 2020.

The police had arrested Sowore and other four activists in Abuja, for leading a “crossover protest” against “bad governance” on New Year’s Eve in Abuja.
They are being arraigned on three charges of criminal conspiracy, unlawful assembly, and attempting to incite others, but they all pleaded not guilty to the charges.
