A Nigerian entertainment investor and expert, Chukwuebuka Gabriel Ilochonwu, has encouraged Nigerian youths to pursue educational careers first before diversifying into investing in their talents.
He noted that education is a leveller and what helps to sharpen both the skills and talents, the reason no one can underplay the essence of academic qualifications, even if people won’t still directly use their certificates.
The AJ Entertainment CEO said, for instance, a musician who is educated will have good self-esteem to an appreciable degree as such will lift his personality to earning respect among competitors and fans.
As he said, Western education has played a great role in how musicians like Wizkid, Tuface Idibia, Davido, Tekno, Zlatan, and others like them present themselves and their music to the general audience, hence, he implored the youth to copy such values from them.
Ilochonwu, who is a United States-based music label owner described the music as a rewarding business, as it is what everybody can easily relate with globally and that no culture doesn’t embrace it, even as a means of communication.
“All the youth should be aware that we are already in a changing world where your level of exposure and consciousness of things around you is what will sort you out amid competitions. So, in all that you do, acquiring formal educational training is of great essence to be relevant in a particular industry.
“In the music world, the competition is there, but your style is what will distinguish you, and most importantly, don’t be a novice, be vast in your desire to acquire knowledge and develop at what you do. Understand the technology that supports your job and go for it. You can’t do all these without having a measure of academic qualification.
“So, let everyone develop their talents and up their games, so, you can be fulfilled and make profits commensurable with your efforts. Nigeria is full of raw talents and the competitions to outshine each other are there too, don’t let people relegate you because of your ignorance,” Ilochonwu said.
