Tinubu appoints Gbajabiamila as Chief Of Staff, Akume, SGF, Hadejia DCoS

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has made three major appointments after five days in office, announcing the appointment of Speaker of the House of Representatives, Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff.

The president also appointed Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as Deputy Chief of Staff, and a former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, will serve as Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).

Tinubu made the announcement during his meeting with the Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), at the statehouse on Friday, June 2, 2023.

In attendance at the meeting were governors Babajide Sanwo-Olu (Lagos), Abdullahi Sule (Nasarawa), Umar Namadi (Jigawa), Inuwa Yahaya (Gombe), Yahaya Bello (Kogi), Professor Babagana Zulum (Borno), and Mai Mala Buni (Yobe).

Those present also include Uba Sani (Kaduna), Dikko Radda (Katsina), Father Hyacinth Alia (Benue), AbdulRahman AbdulRazaq (Kwara), Dapo Abiodun (Ogun), Umar Bago (Niger), Aliyu Ahmed (Sokoto), Francis Nwifuru (Ebonyi) and Bassey Otu (Cross River).

However, three of the APC governors were absent, Oluwarotimi Akeredolu (Ondo), Biodun Oyebanji (Ekiti) and Nasir Idris (Kebbi).

In the meeting with the President were also Vice President Kashim Shettima, the Permanent Secretary of the State House, Tijjani Umar, and former Chairman of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC), Nuhu Ribadu.

Feelers also had it that the meeting being the first official engagement President Tinubu had with the APC governors since his inauguration on May 29, part of the agenda discussed was the selection of leaders for the fuel subsidy issue, National Assembly and possible considerations for the ministerial appointments.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu Friday in Abuja announced the appointment of the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Rt. Hon. Femi Gbajabiamila as Chief of Staff, and Sen. Ibrahim Hassan Hadejia, a former Deputy Governor of Jigawa State, as Deputy Chief of Staff.

In a meeting with Progressives Governors Forum (PGF), the President also named former Governor of Benue State and immediate past Minister of Special Duties, George Akume, Secretary to the Government of the Federation (SGF).
