There was a dramatic scene inside the Nigerian parliament on Monday, when the acting managing director of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Kemebradikumo Pondei, almost passed out during a session before the House of Representatives committee probing alleged fraud in the commission.
Pondei literally passed out under the heat of the questions thrown at him as members of the House Committee on NDDC grilled him for about 45 minutes.
Consequently, he was rushed out of the Conference Room 231, venue of the investigative hearing on illegal spending and mismanagement of NDDC funds.
While he spoke with the probe committee before the dramatic turnaround, he had informed the House that the NDDC interim management spent N81.5 billion between in eight months, while also disclosing that current interim management received N72 bullion revenue between February and June 2020, and had spent N1.32 billion and not N1.5 billion on COVID-19.
However, the Minister of Niger Delta Affairs, Senator Godswill Akpabio, who was invited alongside Pondei stayed behind.
