Hundreds of thousands of Nigerians on social media, Monday 11th April 2022, celebrated the Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, SAN, for declaring his interest to run for the office of the president come 2022.

The Vice President had made his intention known at the early hours of Monday, in a video published across all his social media channels at 7:00 am.

Before his public declaration, the Vice President had, Sunday evening, invited the All Progressives Congress (APC) governors to Iftar (the breaking of the Muslim fast), at his official residence, Akinola Aguda House, in the Presidential Villa, Abuja.

His declaration has now put to bed months of uncertainties and speculations surrounding his 2023 ambition.

In the video currently trending on Twitter, Osinbajo noted that he has served the nation as Vice President for 7 years and he has the capacity to run for President given his long years of service to the nation.

Osinbajo noted that he understands the core issues and concerns of every Nigerian.

He said, “I believe that the very reason why the Almighty God gave me these experiences, these insights, and these opportunities, is that they must be put to the use of our country and it’s great peoples.”

“Which is why I am today, with utmost humility, formally declaring my intention to run for the Office of the President, Federal Republic of Nigeria, on the platform of our great party, the All Progressives Congress.”

In reacting to this development, many who couldn’t conceal their excitement took to social media en masse to celebrate as they threw their weight behind Osinbajo’s candidacy.

They highlighted the exemplary qualities of the vice president putting him above all other aspirants as the best candidate to lead the country to the promised land.
