Nigeria’s former Vice President, Prof Yemi Osinbajo, has called for a stronger, more strategic partnership between African nations and the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD), following high-level talks with key OECD officials.

In a meeting with Mr Carlos Conde, Head of Africa and the Middle East Division, and Mr Alin Horj, Economist and Project Manager for the Africa-OECD Partnership, Osinbajo stressed the importance of building frameworks that advance integration, inclusive growth, and sustainable economic cooperation.

“It was a real pleasure to engage with Mr Conde and Mr Horj on the critical role Africa-OECD partnerships can play in shaping the future of economic development across the continent,” Osinbajo said.

“We explored practical avenues for advancing economic integration and charting new paths for deeper, mutually beneficial engagement.”

The discussion focused on actionable strategies to enhance economic collaboration and widen trade opportunities, ensuring that the benefits of partnership extend beyond major economies to reach smaller and emerging markets.

Plans are already in motion to deepen engagement with individual African countries under the Africa-OECD Partnership, which has become a key platform for policy dialogue and economic advancement.

Osinbajo’s meeting signals another push in his ongoing efforts to foster alliances that promote prosperity, innovation, and resilience across Africa.
