Australian teenager Charlie Eggins is using his remarkable skill in solving Rubik’s Cubes to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ.
Eggins, from Brisbane, Queensland, gained international recognition at the age of 13 after setting a world record for the fastest blindfolded solve of a Rubik’s Cube, completing the puzzle in 12.10 seconds.
He has continued to excel in speedcubing, setting another blindfolded world record in January 2026, when he solved a 3x3x3 Rubik’s Cube in 11.67 seconds.
Beyond competitive speedcubing, Eggins has found a way to use the colourful puzzle as an illustration of the Christian message of creation, sin and salvation.
Eggins told Hope Media that he and his father realised the Rubik’s Cube could provide a simple illustration of the Gospel.

“Imagine a perfectly solved Rubik’s Cube. All the colours are matched up. It’s completely perfect,” he said.
“This is like when God created the world, everything was perfect. God said it was good. All right and perfect, like a solved Rubik’s cube.”
He compared a scrambled cube to the effect of human sin.
“But then, humans sin, and that’s like grabbing The Cube and twisting and turning it and scrambling it.”
Eggins said the illustration also demonstrates humanity’s inability to solve the problem of sin by its own efforts.
“No matter what we try, we cannot solve it,” he said.
“We need something else to come and fix us and make us good again and make the world good again.”
He said the answer is Jesus Christ.
“That thing is a person, God himself came down, in Jesus.”
Eggins said the Rubik’s Cube can therefore serve as a reminder of the Gospel and God’s love.
“Every time you see a Rubik’s Cube, you can remember the Gospel [of Jesus] and the immense love that God has for us.”
