Former Nigerian Vice President Professor Yemi Osinbajo has received a warm welcome in Accra, Ghana, complete with traditional kente stoles.
The occasion marked the third in-person meeting of the Future of Development Cooperation Coalition (FDCC) commissioners, secretariat, and key leadership figures.
Professor Osinbajo co-chairs the independent global initiative alongside Arancha González Laya, Dean of the Paris School of International Affairs at Sciences Po and former Spanish Foreign Minister.
The high-level gathering brought together international policymakers, finance experts, and civil society leaders to rethink how global development assistance operates.

Discussions in Accra advanced concrete proposals designed to reshape development cooperation around national priorities and local leadership.
During the engagements, Professor Osinbajo stressed the critical need for greater African agency in steering the institutions and rules that determine the continent’s economic trajectory.
The coalition’s ongoing work seeks to transition traditional aid models toward equitable partnerships, sustainable financing, and systemic institutional reform.
Participants examined innovative financing frameworks, domestic resource mobilisation, and long-term strategies to empower emerging economies.
The Accra meeting forms part of a broader series of global consultations intended to produce actionable recommendations for international institutions and governments.
