Since after the coronavirus outbreak forcing a global lockdown, Nigeria’s President Muhammadu Buhari makes his first travel outside the country on Thursday, as he left Nigeria for Mali.
He was seen Thursday afternoon stepping out of his presidential jet at Bamako airport, wearing a COVID-19 face mask for the first time.
Buhari, has been one of the world leaders who have refused to wear the face mask after it was recommended by the World Health Organisation (WHO) as part of the preventive measures to curb the COVID-19 spread.

His refusal to wear a face mask already tacitly enforced in the country, has generated discussions in public places, and Nigerians have also expressed concerns over the health of their President who had been sick and treated at different occasions abroad, even before the coronavirus outbreak.
It was only on Tuesday, the United States President Donald Trump, who, had also opposed to the wearing of face mask, tweeted a picture of himself wearing one, which he described as a mark of patriotism.
Buhari, currently on a peace mission to Mali, is being joined by other West African leaders, who have also arrived to find a lasting solution to the worsening political crisis in the country.
Already in Bamako with Buhari on Thursday are Presidents Nana Akufo-Addo of Ghana, Alassane Ouattara of Ivory Coast, Macky Sall of Senegal, and Mahamadou Issoufou of Niger.
