Awolowo’s first daughter, Rev. Tola Oyediran, dies at 79

First daughter of the late sage, Chief Obafemi Awolowo, former Premier of the old Western Region, Rev. Omotola Oyediran, is dead.

Aged 79, Rev Oyetola died in Ibadan, the Oyo State capital, on Thursday.

She would have clocked 80 on December 1, 2020.

Until her death, she was the Chairman, Board of Directors of the African newspapers of Nigeria (ANN) PLC, publishers of Tribune titles.

Rev Oyetola is survived by her husband, Professor A. B. O. O. Oyediran, a former Vice-Chancellor of the University of Ibadan, likewise her children and grandchildren.

The passing of Rev. Oyetola has left behind her younger sister, Dr Olatokunbo Awolowo-Dosunmu, a former Nigerian ambassador to The Netherlands, as the only surviving child of the late Awolowo.
