The Cross River State House of Assembly has successfully screened and confirmed Mr Oden Ewa as Commissioner, marking the conclusion of the comprehensive evaluation process initiated by the House a week ago.
The Assembly, had, on August 1 screened and confirmed 24 out of the 26 commissioner nominees sent in by Governor Bassey Otu.
However, the screening and confirmation of Mr Ewa was halted due to a compelling circumstance, while he was on official assignment during the initial screening, resulting in a temporary postponement of his confirmation.

Today, the Assembly welcomed Mr Oden Ewa back and swiftly proceeded with his screening and confirmation, marking the final step in the confirmation process.
Ewa’s confirmation was sequel to the report of the House Committee on Judiciary, Public Service Matters, Public Petition and Conflict Resolution during plenary by the Chairman, Hon. Davis Etta, a member representing Abi State Constituency.
According to the report, the nominee met all the constitutional requirements and was also found to be fit after being subjected to proper scrutiny by the committee.
Also speaking the Member representing Yakurr 1 State Constituency, Hon Cyril James Omini extolled the qualities of the nominee describing him as a successful businessman.
In her remarks, the Member representing Yakurr 2 State Constituency, Hon. Mercy Akpama described the nominee as a reliable hand and a youth mobilizer in the state.
Similarly, the Speaker of the Assembly, Rt Hon Elvert Ayambem commended Governor Bassey Otu for nominating Ewa, whom he said will add value to the State Executive Council.
“The Governor took his time in the selection of the nominee to ensure that he was a square peg in a square hole.
“I am happy that the Governor transmitted the list within the stipulated time. The nominee is a man of great charisma with a credible personality,” the speaker said.
On his part, Ewa thanked the Speaker and Members for the confirmation and assured them of his commitment to work in synergy with the legislature in the discharge of his duties.
