Former President of Nigeria Bar Association (NBA), O. C. J. Okocha, has lauded the achievements of Vice President Yemi, SAN, in the Judiciary during his time as the Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice in Lagos State, from 1999 to 2007.

This was also followed by Nigerians began the celebration of the Vice Presidents achievements with a throwback challenge on the micro-blogging site, Twitter, as they recalled numerous achievements of the country’s second-in-command, barely a month before Prof. Osinbajo leaves office.

The Nigerians’ celebration of Prof. Osinbajo’s good works came on the backdrop of the viral statement the erudite lawyer, Okocha, made in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, at a bouquet where Rivers State Governor Nyesom Wike hosted in honour of the President-elect, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu, in Port Harcourt, during his visit the state.

Okocha, the Founder and Managing Solicitor of the Law Firm of Okocha & Okocha and a former Attorney-General and Commissioner of Justice of Rivers State, on Wednesday, on May 3, 2023, praised the Vice President in his speech as he made a direct address to Tinubu, under whom Osinbajo served as the Attorney General in Lagos State.

Okocha, who is a Life Member of the Honourable Body of Benchers (the highest body of excellence in the Legal Profession in Nigeria), at the state banquet in Port Harcourt, told Tinubu that, “Professor Yemi Osinbajo revolutionized the judiciary in Lagos State when “you were governor and that is the template that most of us have copied in mending our rules of court and now have what we call front loading, Yemi did that and revolutionized the judiciary in Lagos State, we have tried to copy.”

Okocha’s statement captured by the media in a 30-second video has since gone viral on social media with many Twitter users now using the video in several posts on their walls.

Reacting to the development, many Nigerians have since taken to Twitter to celebrate the VP, with many recollecting his achievements when he was Acting President in 2017, to his numerous feats as Nigeria’s Vice President for being a ground-breaker of the President Muhammadu Buhari-led administration’s pro-people policies aimed at making life easier for people.

One of the best policies of the Federal Government in Nigeria since I grew up was the introduction of Survival Funds, a component of the Economic Sustainability Plan; you don’t need to know anyone before you can be a beneficiary. It was purely based on merit.
