Today, we commemorate the resilience, sacrifices, and the enduring spirit of our nation. It could have been shattered but the God of Nigeria stands strong. Democracy is more than just a date on the calendar, it is a living, breathing commitment that demands the active participation of every Nigerian.

True democracy thrives only when we, as citizens, take ownership of our collective future. It flourishes when we remain informed, uphold the rule of law, exercise our franchise with integrity, and stand as a firm guard against corruption. It calls upon us to be bold enough to speak truth to power and to consistently place the progress of Nigeria above personal interest.

However, the weight of this journey is not ours to carry alone. The Nigeria of our dreams relies equally on visionary, accountable, and transparent leadership. We need leaders who understand that their mandate is a sacred trust, leaders who act with integrity, foster inclusivity, and prioritise the welfare of the people over the consolidation of power.

The Nigeria of our dreams is an architectural project built by responsible, patriotic, and courageous citizens working hand in hand with leaders of integrity. As we reflect on this Democracy Day, let us recommit ourselves to the work of nation building. Let our actions be guided by the belief that a better, stronger Nigeria is not only possible but inevitable if both the led and the leaders hold themselves to the highest standards of service and unity.

The future belongs to those who act with purpose, stay vigilant, and never lose faith in the potential of our great nation.
