Unknown gunmen have attacked the motorcade of a popular Nigerian preacher, Apostle Johnson Suleiman, but escaped from the scene unhurt.
As gathered, Suleman was returning from a foreign trip when the gunmen attacked his convoy along the Benin-Auchi road, Edo State, on Friday, October 21, 2022.
However, the police have confirmed the killing of six of Apostle’s aides.
Edo State Police Command spokesperson, Chidi Nwabuzor, who spoke to the press, said Apostle Suleiman is safe and sound.
He said three policemen and two civilian drivers attached to the Apostle were killed in the attack.
One domestic worker was also killed while a search is ongoing for a second domestic worker.
The Edo Police Command said that the DPO of Auchi Division and his team mobilised to the scene of the incident on receipt of the information and killed one of the gunmen.
The police said an aggressive manhunt for the fleeing criminals has been launched.
