How petrol tanker explosion killed family of 7, many others in Kogi

Tragedy struck in Felele area of Kogi State, Wednesday morning, when a tanker fully loaded with petrol exploded, resulting in the killing of a family of seven, and many others.

The tanker was said to have lost control after its brake failed and lost control a few metres to the gate of the state polytechnic.

A family of seven, father, mother and five children who got caught up in the sad incident were killed by the raging fire, while corpses of about 40 others said to have been killed in the accident, were said to have been deposited at the Kogi State Specialist Hospital, Lokoja.

The state Deputy Governor, Edward Onoja, and the governor’s wife, had visited the scene of the incident, but the angry rampaging youths who blocked the roads didn’t grant them immediate access.

Men of the Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) and other security personnel had arrived to put the situation under control.
