Some of the #EndSARS protesters who defied the Federal Government’s order not to gather at Lekki tollgate for Saturday morning protest have been arrested by the police.
Among them is a social media influence, Comedian Debo Adebayo aka Mr Macaroni, who was arrested as he arrived Lekki tollgate.
Also, a disc-jockey (DJ), who had been around with his gadgets to add musical colours to the Saturday morning protest, was arrested alongside numerous others.
Nigerians who have been following and mobilising for the protests on Twitter have condemned the police arrests.

Yoweri Museveni of Uganda didn't even do up to this. Buhari is killing peaceful protesters & demonising critics. This same regime is paying terrorists & granting them amnesty. The world needs to know. #EndSARS, #Lekkitollgate

Nigeria can really really really test you, Lagos state government you need the youth, @jidesanwoolu police arresting peaceful protesters that voted you in to office is a low blow, it is an abuse of our fundamental right to peacefully protest #EndSARS #Lekkitollgate

Once you're in Nigeria but you're not in
the circles of Fulani herdsmen, bandits,
kidnappers, Miyetti Allah or Boko Haram,
Buhari doesn't care about your existence

Mr Macaroni will surely get released sooner or later cos he’s a public figure, my concern is for an average Nigerian who is not famous. Those are the ones that will be charged for crimes they never committed. 💔💔 #EndSARS #Lekkitollgate

Police are clamping down heavily on the few protesters that turned up. We saw some beaten with sticks and their posters confiscated. One young man who said he was an observer was taken away in a Black Maria. #Lekkitollgate
