Post-surgery: Osinbajo makes excellent progress — Dr Shitta-Bey

Vice President Yemi Osinbajo SAN, has continued to make excellent progress recuperating after undergoing a surgical procedure on Saturday.

This was made known of Monday, July 18, 2022, by Dr Tokunbo Shitta-Bey, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO), of Duchess International Hospital, where the VP is being treated in Ikeja, Lagos State.

Shitta-Bey, giving an update on the Vice President’s health condition via his Twitter handle on Monday, said: “The VP, Prof Osinbajo, continues to make excellent progress at Duchess Hospital, Ikeja and he remains in very good health.”

“My special thanks to the wonderful team of doctors, nurses, physiotherapists and allied health professionals at Duchess Hospital,” Shitta-Bey said.

Recalled, the doctors who performed a surgical operation on Vice President Yemi Osinbajo, to treat a recurrent pain caused by a fracture in his leg, after concluding the procedure on Saturday, July 16, 2022, described it as successful.

Earlier, Osinbajo’s spokesman, Laolu Akande, had posted a statement from the hospital confirming that the Vice President had a successful leg surgery at the Duchess International Hospital, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos.

The statement read: “The Vice President was admitted to Duchess International Hospital, GRA, Ikeja, Lagos, today (Saturday) on account of a fracture of his right femur (thigh bone), possibly related to a longstanding injury associated with a game of squash.

“He had a surgical operation performed by a team of specialist doctors, including Dr Wallace Ogufere, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon, Dr Om Lahoti, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon and Dr Babajide Lawson, Consultant Orthopaedic Surgeon.

“Others were Dr Ken Adegoke, Consultant in Anaesthesia and Critical Care, Dr Oladimeji Agbabiaka, Consultant Anaesthetist and Dr Adedoyin Dosunmu-Ogunbi, Consultant Physician and Medical Director.

“The operation was successful and Osinbajo is expected to be discharged within the next few days,” Dosunmu-Ogunbi said.
