United States President Donald J. Trump has signed a sweeping executive order establishing a Task Force to Eliminate Fraud, a major federal initiative aimed at tackling fraud, waste, and abuse across government benefit programmes.
The task force will be chaired by Vice President JD Vance, bringing together senior officials and key federal agencies to coordinate a nationwide enforcement strategy designed to protect public funds.
Under the directive, agencies are required to strengthen eligibility verification systems, tighten documentation standards, and deploy more advanced mechanisms to detect and prevent fraudulent claims. The administration is targeting vulnerabilities across major programmes, including healthcare, housing support, food assistance, and direct financial aid.

The order also mandates closer inter agency coordination, real time data sharing, and the identification of high risk fraud patterns, with a focus on dismantling organised fraud networks and closing long standing loopholes in the system.
Officials say the objective is to ensure that government benefits are accessed strictly by eligible Americans, while restoring accountability and discipline in the administration of public resources.
The task force is expected to produce initial recommendations within 90 days, forming part of a broader push by the administration to reinforce fiscal oversight and strengthen the integrity of the United States social support framework.
