A 22-year-old pregnant woman, was said to have stabbed her husband, Mohammed, to death after suspecting him of making a phone call to his girlfriend.
This was disclosed by a Commandant of the Nasarawa State Command of the Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC), Mr Mahmud Fari, in Lafia, the Nasarawa State capital.
He said the woman, Mrs Veronica Boniface, was arrested in the Obene area of the Keana Local Government Area of the state after an intelligence report.

After she was arrested, the NSCDC Commandant said that, the medical examination conducted on the suspect showed that she was in good condition, adding that as soon as the command completed its investigations, the suspected killer would be prosecuted in a competent court in the state.
“The husband was rushed to hospital after she stabbed him with a knife after they quarrelled over a phone call that she suspected was with a lady.
“We found out that she has a two-and-a-half-year-old baby, who is now in the custody of the relations of the husband,” the Commandant said.
The suspect, Veronica, however said she regretted her action, and while she pleaded for mercy, she disclosed that she was two months pregnant for her late husband.
She said her intention was not to kill her husband, but to frighten him, and retrieve the phone from him.
Veronica blamed has blamed the devil for her action, begging authorities to have mercy on her.
